The fire service is commonly called a “para-military” organization. There is a great deal of esprit de corps and professionalism within the service. As a part of that ceremonial function, Horry County Fire Rescue has created an Honor Guard.
This Honor Guard serves at official functions of the Department and, from time to time, supports other community activities when there is a need for a formal organization to present the colors of our great country.
Additionally, the Horry County Fire Rescue Honor Guard has been called upon on numerous occasions to participate in fire department funerals throughout the state of South Carolina. The Guard participates in graduations, awards ceremonies, parades and station openings throughout the year.
