Message from the Chief

Chief Garry Alderman

Welcome. It is my privilege to present to you the many different aspects of Horry County Fire Rescue. Since 1979, we have grown in leaps and bounds and currently have more than 325 career personnel and 220 volunteer staff that respond to nearly 31,000 medical calls and over 13,000 fire calls annually.

We have a dynamic department that provides outstanding service to the over 250,000 citizens of Horry County. Additionally, we see more than 15.2 million visitors to our area.

It is with great honor and respect that I salute the personnel within our department. I know that without their courage, willingness to serve others and genuine concern, it would not be the exemplary department that it is today.

Thank you for your interest in Horry County Fire Rescue.  If you need further information, please do not hesitate to contact us at 843.915.5190.

Garry B. Alderman
Fire Chief
